It's obvious why Arsenal are now many people's favorites to secure the Premier League during this term.

Examine their results against West Ham and Crystal Palace compared to those identical matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have defeated all of them in the current season, but dropped 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race previously.

Impenetrable Rearguard

Arsenal's backline resilience is a key reason why they are seeming ready to finally fulfil their title goal.

They rank top for clean sheets (6), shots let in (3), opposition efforts (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the strongest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Mastery

Their danger from dead balls is highly documented, but opposition teams still find it difficult to contain the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, several additional than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just afraid of them and it is great to see."

Championship Pedigree

What is particularly impressive about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they maintain victories, their long-standing opponents aren't faring so well. This marks the first time at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on boss Mikel Arteta at the start, having spent around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in quest of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far yielded results in remarkable manner, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and possessing the most resilient defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Clean sheets in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without allowing a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and pundits have labeled Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now operating with confidence and resolve.
